How to keep you mind, body and soul healthy

It’s January and it’s Mental Health Awareness Month. We, at Carisma Spa and Wellness, do not think it is a coincidence to start a new year raising awareness on how to keep our mind healthy.
The mind determines all.
Once we are consciously aware of it, befriend it and maintain it well - pruning out negative thoughts, keeping toxic people at arms’ length, and finding silent spaces where to tune into ourselves and connect our mind to our body and soul – we create a balance that shoots up our quality of life.
Because World Spa Award Winner 2016 Carisma is all about holistic wellness, to be beautiful inside and outside, it is supporting Mental Health Awareness Month, bringing together professionals, products, services and facilities which, combined together, allow any individual peace of mind and internal wisdom to walk life’s path, in an easy, flowing way.
With a smile.
And an attitude that, irrespective of any situation, ALL CAN BE WELL.
If we believe so.
And if we work towards that goal.
The brain is most probably the body’s most complicated organ and unless we are conscious that we have to look after its upkeep and wellbeing, we might wish to head in one direction – of thinking positive, seeing the world beautiful, looking at the mirror and think, ‘I look damn good’, maintaining healthy relationships and friendships, and enjoying the success of what we do because we do it with passion – we might unconsciously be directing ourselves the opposition way.

Unfortunately, mental health, from feeling down, to depression and other more complex conditions, along the years has conjured a stigma. Partly because society makes us believe that to be valid we always have to be happy and have a life as it should be (determined by the glossy and mass media spin doctors).
But that is not human nature. Life is beautiful because of its different emotions and sensations. Because sometimes we need to go down to appreciate the feeling of being on top of our world; because sometimes we need to lose someone or an important aspect of our life to motivate us to take the challenge and move up to the next level.
And all this is individual work. Life was not meant to be a one-size-fits-all. Here are a few ideas now to keep your body, mind and soul healthy:
  1. Start and end your day with a few minutes with yourself. Some call this time meditation. If you’re not ready for the term, find a comfortable place where you can be in silence on your own, ask yourself how you feel, express gratitude for all you have and the loving people around you and visualise your day (or the next if you’re doing this before you sleep) as you wish it to be, grounding yourself feeling held from underneath by Mother Earth and accepting the guidance of the Universe’s Light from above.
  2. Don’t dwell too much on anything. Let whatever thought or situation you have at hand go and ask God or the Universe to guide you how to handle it. Don’t think of how things can be solved. That is not always your job as life behaves in strange ways. Just believe there for every problem there is a solution.
  3. Eat well, respecting yourself and the environment. Eat organically, food which hasn’t been interfered with and eat it as raw and certainly unprocessed as possible.
  4. Make ‘me time’ to groom yourself, to visit the spa and enjoy the luxury of the heated water, the sauna and the healing Turkish Hammam for holistic cleansing. Let your mind cleanse itself letting it roam and get lost in the silence of the relaxation area.
  5. Seek professional advice – for a physical movement that suits your rhythm, a life coach to organise your life, a therapist to learn how to navigate your mind and direct your emotions, a qualified nutritionist to eat well, a beauty therapist to keep groomed and your body radiant and shining, and a psychiatrist or complementary therapist (or both) if short or long-term conventional or complementary medication might help you overcome some rough patches to then carry on with ease.
